I’m the heart behind Anna Renae Photography, but around here I’m also a wife, mama, professional hype girl, and someone who probably gets way too excited when the light is just right.
Photography has been part of my life for a long time. It started in high school with me taking photos of my friends simply because I loved it. I loved finding beauty in people and turning an ordinary moment into something that felt special.
Somehow, all these years later, I still get that same feeling.
There’s something about seeing a moment happening in front of me and knowing this is it. This is the photo they’re going to love. This is the expression their mom is going to recognize immediately. This is the tiny interaction they probably didn't even realize I caught.
That's the stuff that keeps me completely in love with what I do.
My approach
First things first; you do not need to know how to pose.
Honestly, I don't want you thinking about the camera that much at all.
I want to get to know you. I want to hear your ideas and know what feels like you. I want to know if there’s somewhere meaningful we can go or something you love doing together that we can build your session around.
And once we're there, I'll take care of you.
I'll tell you what to do when you need direction. I'll fix your hair, watch the little details, help create those gorgeous editorial moments, and probably make a fool of myself at some point trying to get a genuine laugh out of you.
But I also know when to stop directing.
Sometimes the best thing I can do is step back, pay attention, and let you be together.
I care a lot about this.
Probably more than I know how to put into words.
Being trusted to photograph someone’s life is something I will never treat casually. There are moments I’ve photographed that I know can never happen exactly that way again. I've watched people say yes to forever, families squeeze each other a little tighter, parents soak in their babies, and ordinary moments turn into photographs that suddenly mean everything.
Getting to be there for that is an absolute honor.
So yes, I care about beautiful light. I care about composition. I care about creating photographs that feel timeless and artful.
But I care even more about the people in them.
When I'm not carrying a camera...
I'm usually home in Uvalde with my husband and our little girl, soaking up our own version of the beautiful chaos.
I love where we live and everything that comes with this little corner of Texas. The Frio River, Hill Country drives, wide open spaces, summer evenings, and places that feel like home will probably always have a piece of my heart.
I'm naturally a people person, I laugh a lot, and I genuinely love getting to know the people who end up in front of my camera. Some of my favorite client relationships have started with a simple inquiry and turned into me getting to document one season after another.
And that's pretty dang special.
So, come as you are.
You don't need to have everything perfectly planned before you reach out. You don't need to be “photogenic.” Your kids don't need to behave perfectly, and your story definitely doesn't need to look like anyone else's.
